Church School for Children & Youth at 9:45 am

Congratulations to the new Vestry members!

Suzie AdcockSUZIE ADCOCK: I am married to Jeff and have 2 adult sons: David & Mark, daughter-law, Anna and grandson, Mills. I grew up in Greenville and am a cradle Episcopalian. Recently I retired from teaching after 33 wonderful years of being with children at Jackson Academy. Having serviced on the Vestry, Stewardship Committee, Pastoral Care, and other St. James’ groups, I feel blessed to be a part of our wonderful church family.

William BoxWILLIAM BOX: I was confirmed at St. James’ in 2001. My partner Richard Bailey and I have been together for 35 years and members here for the past 16. My activities over the years have included Outreach Committee, Volunteer Coordinator for Stewpot Weekday Lunches, St. James’ representative on Stewpot Board of Directors, Project Coordinator for Matt’s House, Shrove Tuesday Chairperson, Parish Life Committee, EFM graduate, Sun King and Art Auction Volunteer, Rummage Sale Preview Party Coordinator and former Vestry Member. I am currently a Chalice Bearer and Usher as well as serving on the Education, Building and Grounds, Pastoral Care Committees and also The Flower Guild. I also represented St. James’ on the Diocesan Nominating Committee for the selection of our current Bishop Brian Seage. It is an honor to be nominated and to be included in such an outstanding group of my fellow Parishioners.

Andrew GradyANDREW GRADY: My family and I have been members of St. James’ since 2004. Married to Leigh and have two children: Stuart and Camille. I am a lifelong Episcopalian, being raised in St. Paul’s Mission, Corinth, MS. I am a graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed my residency training at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I am a center director engaged in biomedical research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center since 1993. I have been a Verger (serving both at St. Andrew’s Cathedral and St. James’), acolyte master, Honduras Medical Mission member, served as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 1 for six years, and a member of the St. James’ Brewers Guild.

Jane RoperJANE ROPER: A lifetime Episcopalian, I have been an active member of St. James’ for 60 years. I enjoy attending the 8:40 Sunday service and an adult education offering afterwards. Other church activities in which I currently participate include Altar Guild, Foyer Group, Stewardship Committee, and Women’s Bible Study. My professional career began in the field of teaching and evolved into educational administration, banking, development/fundraising, and retail. Volunteer activities have always been an integral part of my life. At present, I am a member of Belhaven House and Garden Club, Gallery Guild, Jackson Camellia Society, Junior League of Jackson, and Kappa Delta Alumnae Association. In addition, I serve as a board member of Copiah Bank, Debutante Club of MS, Old Ladies Home Association and The Home Place. The St. James’ family has certainly blessed and enriched my life! Serving on our vestry would be a privilege.

Lea Ann SimmonsLEA ANN SIMMONS: I am recently married to Margaret Deavours and have two daughters, Taylor & Kelsey, a son-in-law, Adam, and a new granddaughter, Eleanor Brianna. I currently serve on the altar guild, am co-coordinating this year’s Sun King 5K, have volunteered with the Rummage Sales, Stewpot meal delivery, the greeting committee, and absolutely love being a part of Foyers groups. I joined St. James’ 5 years ago and was confirmed last year. I grew up in the Baptist church, but I have never felt the genuine love and community as I do here. St. James’ is fulfilling, a great comfort, and I am honored and blessed to call you family. Thank you for your thoughtful nomination.
